When You Call My Name in Western Australia

This weekend, When You Call My Name will be presented in two locations in Western Australia — Perth and Broome.

As part of Mayu Kanamori’s exhibition at Murdoch University, When You Call My Name will hold A Commemorative Performance Ceremony on Saturday 29 August 2026, from 1:00–3:00pm, at the Pendopo / Indonesian Pavilion, Murdoch University.

During the ceremony, the names of the internees will be called as participants place the 225 artworks together, creating a collective act of remembrance.

The following day, When You Call My Name will also open in Broome, with a special photographic exhibition at the Broome Historical Museum – Sailmaker’s Shed, from 30 August to 2 September 2026.

The Broome exhibition brings together 20 photographic works connecting stories of wartime internment with people, families and places in Western Australia today.
