Tomorrow, Friday 25 September, is the final day to see the WHEN YOU CALL MY NAME display at Murdoch University Art Gallery in Perth.

Following the WHEN YOU CALL MY NAME gathering and ceremony at Murdoch University in August, the project’s postcard installation has remained on display in the gallery throughout September.

Behind the Scenes

Here are a couple of behind-the-scenes images from the installation, with Sophie Constable preparing the display and the completed postcards suspended together in the gallery.

Each postcard carries an artwork created in response to the story of a Japanese civilian internee detained in Australia or New Zealand during the Second World War. Together, the postcards form a visual remembrance of the individuals whose names and stories are at the heart of WHEN YOU CALL MY NAME.

The display is presented alongside Teiju to wa Nandaro – What does it mean to settle?, Mayu Kanamori’s photographic exhibition exploring migration, belonging and settlement in Australia.
