HAGA Suejiro

HAGA Suejiro
[ 7 May 1887 – 5 September 1942 ]

Suejiro was born in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture. When he was captured, he was working in / running a general store at 29 Rue Georges Clémenceau in Noumea, which is now a fashionable shopping street near the ferry terminal. Suejiro and his wife, who was from Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan were both interned in Tatura Internment Camp. He had been admitted to hospital with tuberculosis but was back at the camp compound when he died. His grave is at the Japanese Cemetery in Cowra, NSW.
