Artist/s Statement:

‘Under the Golden Sky’ is the silhouette of the Northern Alps, which Setsujiro would have seen from his hometown in Toyama Prefecture. The leaves surrounding Setsujiro’s face are yam leaves – yams are a specialty of New Caledonia. This piece draws inspiration from an imagined scenario of Setsujiro in faraway New Caledonia, thinking about his distant hometown of Toyama.
