Thank you, Queensland artists for attending our online workshop!

Nikkei Australia Chair, Elysha Rei and Mayu Kanamori held an online workshop for Queensland based artists interested in ‘adopting’ internees who were living in Queensland before being arrested and interned at the outbreak of the Pacific War. Many of these people had lived in Australia for most of their adult lives, working and contributing to Queensland’s sugar cane industries.

Some of the artists already had ideas on what they wanted to do — including composing music on the koto for their ‘adoptee’!
