Thank you to all participants and Brisbane Multicultural Arts Cen<\/strong>tre,<\/strong> (<\/a>BEMAC)<\/a><\/strong> for your support!<\/p>\n After hearing the history of Nikkei internment in Australia during WWII and about this project from artist and Nikkei Australia<\/strong> Chair Elysha Rei<\/a><\/strong> and from artist Mayu Kanamori<\/strong><\/a>, everyone\u00a0 ‘adopted’ one or two internees who were living mainland Queensland, then spent sometime finding out about them. Some found their signatures, finger prints, photographs through available digital archives including the Cowra Japanese Cemetery Online Database<\/strong><\/a>, Queensland State Archives\u00a0<\/a><\/strong>and the\u00a0National Archives of Australia<\/a><\/strong> websites.<\/p>\n There was even a heart breaking love story in the archives!<\/p>\n We decided that we would organise a Zoom meet up before the March deadline to discuss how art respective artworks are shaping up.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Thank you to all participants and Brisbane Multicultural Arts Centre, (BEMAC) for your support!
