Created by Australian artist Mayu Kanamori, Yasukichi Murakami: Through a Distant Lens is a documentary theatre work that traces the life of photographer Yasukichi Murakami, who migrated from Japan to Australia before the war, and explores the fate of his photographs.
Following presentations at festivals and theatres across Australia, the work has also been staged in Japan at Waseda University and Osaka University.
To celebrate the publication of the script, supported by the Australia-Japan Foundation, this special event will feature a script reading and a symposium with the author.
